Teachers
Science fairs are a great way for students to begin learning how science is done by the pros: from planning and conducting the research to presenting their findings.
How teachers can help their students:
- aid in understanding the science fair rules and guidelines (PDF, requires free Adobe Acrobat Reader.)
- plan projects that follow the scientific method (go to http://www.dotellall.com/article/teaching-children-about-experimental-science-projects.html for more information)
- assist in preparing the student’s application forms and research abstract
- help create a winning presentation
Teacher requirements
If a student would like to participate in the SEE, they are required to obtain teacher approval. The teacher is required to:
- review the student’s project
- if approved, submit an online approval with each individual or team entry.
Without this form, the student’s application is not considered complete. If you have multiple students participating, you do not need to submit all students’ approvals at one time–feel free to get them to us piecemeal!
How to register and approve your students’ projects
Teachers will need to access the registration system (a secure link) to set up a profile for themselves, so that they can approve their students’ projects. In order to be registered with UC, the teacher needs to
- Request permission to enter the system by either sending us an e-mail or calling 513-556-4433
- Provide the e-mail address you would like us to use. We will send an e-mail to that address once the account has been established with further instructions to log in.
Teachers can log into their account here.
The 2010 SEE needs YOU!
In addition to supporting and encouraging students entered in the fair, we are in great need of teachers to participate as judges. Our goal is to partner a professional scientist with a teacher to create a judging team, and we are in need of 200 judges to evaluate the 350+ projects at the fair.
You will receive breakfast, lunch, free parking, and can enjoy all of the day’s exciting exhibits and events! We will also be offering an afternoon workshop to those teachers who judge the fair to earn Continuing Education Credit.
Want to earn graduate credit or CEU credit for attending the fair?
